Andrea Di Stefano will run a workshop with Edouard Cabay, Julia Mauser and Melat Assefa at the Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
As part of the Gulit Pavilion Research, the workshop aim is to improve local market areas (Gulits) through architectural interventions. We will strengthen the infrastructure for food vendors by using clay and its thermal properties in order to improve environmental comfort through the construction of passively cooled storage systems for market stands.
The workshop will take place at the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development in Addis Ababa, from 29/12/2015 to 10/01/2016.
Paper Design edited by A. Acocella and published by Altralinea Edizioni is now in the bookshops. The publication presents the Origami Pavilion project developed by Prof. Luigi Alini and AION together with the II Year Students from the Faculty of Architecture in Siracusa.

The workshop, organized by Salvo Pappalardo (AION architecture) and Andrea Graziano (Co-de-iT), focuses on the development and management of relationships between information and geometry for condition-specific building envelope systems. Through visual scripting in Grasshopper (generative modeling plug-in for Rhinoceros) participants will learn how to build parametric data structures (from basic lists to complex data trees) and how to set up data-driven geometries in order to develop envelope systems and eventually to extract and organize information relevant to the manufacturing process. It is our pleasure to inform you that we have been nominated for the Iakov Chernikhov Prize 2014. “The Iakov Chernikhov Prize is awarded every two years to young masters of contemporary architecture for the best architectural concept (designs, buildings, experimental works, architectural fantasies, sketches). The idea should combine an innovative response to our time and simultaneously offer a professional challenge to the future.” For more information, please visit the Chernikhov Foundation website.
The results will be announced this Spring.
